Week 3 of Monday Memories has arrived!
Introducing this weeks winner: Sophia Huynh
“Hi! I went fishing in Washington for salmon with a friend 15 years ago. He would can his smoked salmon with his AA 930. A few years later he moved to California. He lent me his canner for several years. I do a lot of Sportfishing out of Channel Islands, San Diego and Mexico. When the freezer is full and we have more trips coming up; I start canning my tuna yellowtail and wahoo. The day came when he wanted his canner back and I reluctantly returned it, just kidding. I was so thankful for him lending it to me for all those years.
So I purchased my own 930 and it’s been amazing! I share my canned fish with friends and family. I show friends who are new to canning how easy it is and how delicious it comes out. It has forever changed everyone’s opinion of “canned tuna” and they can’t go back to store bought. Last year a friend found a 915 in her family’s storage unit. She doesn’t can nor want to use it, so she gave it to me!!!! I gave her a flat of canned tuna to say thank you. It’s helped me process more at a time and it was just so cool of her.
I would like to start doing other foods but am a bit nervous. I have 15 flats of bluefin and yellowfin and albacore tuna stored. The season is starting again so I’m full speed on canning fish. Lol!”
What a fabulous story from Sophia! All American is truly grateful that you shared your story!
