FAQ Frequently Asked Questions

What if I'm unsure about which size to choose for my needs?

Choosing the right size depends on your specific needs. Smaller models like the 10.5-quart are great for everyday cooking and small batches of canning, whereas larger models up to 41.5 quarts are ideal for serious canning enthusiasts who process large quantities of food at once. Consider how much you typically cook or preserve in a session to select the most suitable size.

Are these pressure cookers compatible with induction cooktops, and what if I have a flat-top stove?

While all models are compatible with gas, electric, and flat-top stoves, compatibility with induction cooktops varies. If using a flat-top stove, handle it with care to avoid damaging your stove surface. It's important to confirm the specific compatibility with induction cooktops for each model, ensuring it meets your kitchen setup.

What if I need to can low-acid foods like meats or seafood? Is every model suitable?

Yes, all sizes are designed for canning both low-acid and high-acid foods, in line with USDA recommendations. However, note that the 10.5 Qt model should not be used for canning smoked fish due to specific considerations. For other low-acid foods, any size will be suitable, ensuring safe and effective preservation.

How do All American pressure cookers ensure safety during use?

Safety is a paramount concern. All models feature a robust metal-to-metal seal that eliminates the need for gaskets, reducing maintenance and potential failure points. Additionally, each cooker has an automatic overpressure release, a pressure regulator weight, and a geared steam gauge to maintain the correct pressure levels safely.

What if cleaning and maintenance seem too complex due to the metal-to-metal seal?

The metal-to-metal seal simplifies maintenance since there's no gasket to replace. Cleaning involves simple wiping of the sealing surfaces and occasional checks of the pressure gauge and vents for any blockages. This design makes the cookers easier to maintain compared to those with gaskets.

This is the pressure canner to get.

Although I did not buy my All American 30 quart canner from Amazon I am submitting a review. For many years I used a Mirro canner. Alhough that system worked OK, there were issues. Especially during long processing times, with meat (up to 90 minues) when processing liquid would run out due to minor gasket leakage. One of my back-to-the-land friends moved away and sold me his AAPC 30 quart. He'd never used it. My observation (starting in 2016) continues to be that the chamfered edge sealing system, gasket-free on the AAPC, is superior. As long as the user regulates energy input properly, and dials back the heat once underway, it's all but impossible to lose liquid during standard processing times. This is a huge stress reliever and food saver. If processing liquid goes away the jars will sacrifice to make up and the product can be lost. NOT AN ISSUE WITH THE AAPC system! Five stars-pay the money now and be glad later.

    Beautiful! Solid! Love it!

Purchased Barley color 21.5 QT. No regrets on size and color. If I can explain the color it would be like a taupe. It is absolutely perfect for my decor. I plan to leave it out all the time because of how heavy it is. I'm good with that though. It's definitely built to last.
